Style Savvy: Styling Star makes players part of an active community

In each of the Style Savvy games, there is banter with the customers before helping them with their fashion needs. As part of their request, they may explain why they need specific kinds of clothing or outfits. While in past games, this was mainly to help with customer service, it is more than flavor text in Style Savvy: Styling Star. This entry attempts to insert players’ avatars in the world as a meaningful part of things.

Know what is amazing? There are actually four Style Savvy games now! This Nintendo and Syn Sophia series has given Nintendo DS and 3DS owners opportunities to run stores, put together outfits, participate in contests, create clothing, decorate rooms and even help pop stars find their way in the world! The series has exploded over the years, but people unfamiliar with them might mistake the games as something for children. But really, it is so much more than that.

Every Style Savvy game starts the same. Players are a new arrival in a small, but fashionable, town. Residents immediately recognize them for their sense of style. One of the people there will be so captivated by their abilities after watching them in action that they will bestow upon them their very own shop. The task from that point is to sell as much as you can, have an impact on the community and take part in styling contests that show how well coordinated you are. It is all rather freeform. However, initial impressions of Style Savvy: Styling Star seems to suggest more goalposts for people to pass as they play.
